Chronology of cameras Bellieni

This trapezoïdal camera (aka JUMELLE)  presumably dates from the last decade of the nineteenth century. It was manufactured in Nancy.

But how do we recognize Jumelle? It is a sturdy (non-bellows) trapezoidal-shaped camera, with a viewfinder in line with the lens. This viewfinder consists of two foldable parts. The magazine that holds the plates is removable.

The lens has both horizontal and vertical shift capabilities. The lens is a Doppel anastigmat Goerz (Berlin) with a focal length of 130 mm. I did not find any information on the aperture. The piston at the bottom left of the lens is the release shutter trigger, of the pneumatic type.

The nickel-plated piece serves both to cock the shutter and to adjust the shutter speed. To cock it, you need to turn this piece using the small lever protruding from it (here in the high position, thus the shutter is cocked). Concentrically arranged is a graduated wheel from 0 to 5. This corresponds to the speed setting. The shutter appears to be very fast.

The distance is adjusted by turning the lens with the clearly visible knob in the photo, around the lens. Between the trigger and the shutter-cocking wheel is a small lever that allows you to choose between Bulb and Instantaneous. Vertical shift is adjustable with the knob located under the camera. Horizontal shift requires pushing the entire front face of the camera to the left only.
